The Fancy Homes of Hip Hop Stars

Hip-hop music, which is sometimes called America’s default popular music, is an incredibly profitable market. The stars of hip-hop are some of the most successful people in the music industry. Rap impresario Sean Combs (often known as “Puffy”) has estimated his net worth as $475 million. Last year, star rapper Eminem released his sixth #1 album, and it enjoyed the highest chart debut. So, with all of these profits floating around, you can only imagine the fancy homes of hip hop stars. These stars pull out all of the stops to create the most splendid and glamorous living quarters.

One popular summer destination for many stars, and that includes hip-hop stars, is the quaint New York area known as The Hamptons. Many famous rappers and hip-hop producers reside here, including Jay-Z and Puffy. It is rumored that Jay-Z rents a Wainscots mansion for $30,000 a week. Puffy owns a magnificent waterside home, and he is known for the wild celebrity parties he throws there. Stars from miles around travel to his estate to enjoy the bling. Puffy also is known for his other real estate purchases, which include a $14.5 million nine-bedroom house in Miami and a $5 million mansion in New Jersey, which has its own putting green and tennis court.

There are always a few items found in every hip hop mogul’s home.  A rapper’s house is never complete without a personal recording studio, where the artist can work once inspiration hits.  It is also important to have a sophisticated phone system in their home that can support multiple outbound lines.  There are times when entrepreneurs, like Sean Combs, will be on an important call, while his agent will be on another, all while his wife is talking to her sister and his daughter is on the phone with her boyfriend.  Home movie theaters are also found in plenty of homes.  Besides pools and basketball courts, another must have in any rapper’s house is a DVD copy of the movie Scarface.

Hip-hop singer Ludacris owns a giant home in Atlanta, Georgia. Like Puffy’s living quarters, Ludacris’ home also features a tennis court, as well as a man-made lake with a gazebo. Rapper 50 Cent owns a house in Farmington, Connecticut, which has been valued at $14.5 million, while Eminem makes his home in a sprawling estate in Rochester Hills, Michigan. And what about hip-hop’s reigning queen, the beautiful, diva Rihanna? The Grammy award-winning singer owns a home in Los Angeles, California with 30-foot ceilings. This $11 million house boasts an amazing array of amenities, such as a luxury spa and pool, a private movie theater, and a state-of-the-art gourmet kitchen. Of course, the diva probably doesn’t have to cook for herself.

No matter what state they reside in, you can bet that hip-hop stars are making the most of their profits, surrounding themselves with enviable luxury.
